Valour

Luminous and golden, ethereal and light
The armies marched forward towards the fight
Within the areas they passed on paths trodden down
Farmers and craftsmen headed towards the nearby town
Their heads were lowered and their burden heavy
The armies were confident. They knew they were ready.

All of a sudden they heard a ferocious shout!
As some of their own turned and attacked all about!
The poison had been delivered, the cure was too late
The officers did their best to make the terror abate
From the fields nearby rose a score and a dozen more
Their venomous arrows struck and many of them did score

This was the end as one and all who were surrounded knew
Yet amidst the chaos a young, worried voice pierced through
"My sister! Where are you Amber? My sister! Where did she go?!"
A young man of no more than fifteen years darted to and fro
His small hunting knife flashed to the left and to the right
Anytime someone tried to stop him they found a ferocious sight

"My sister! Where are you Amber?! My sister! Where did she go?!"
"My sister! Amber! Where are you? Please come back! I need you so!"
The armies in the middle fled towards the nearest fortified city
As more of the enemies rose up with their weapons at the ready
The crafters and farmers who did not run lingered among the dead
Yet the young man would not give up even when the courage of others fled

What started off as a march towards a battle they would win
Ended in a route from the snakes their enemies put within
The dust had settled as the sun lowered against the darkening sky
A lone young man stood who with Valour refused to give up or die
The enemies who had surrounded now lay within death's gold grasp
Then the young man heard his name and gave quite the joyful gasp!

There amidst the carnage, the wreckage, the bloodshed and the pain
His little sister emerged from where she was hiding in a pile of grain
She threw her arms about him and he swung her up then held her tight
His protective nature of her was what had guided him this bloody fight
Somewhere, ages and ages hence there is a sweet love story that goes like so
A brother's love for his little sister had him look to Light and Valour know

Penned by my hand on the 3rd of Mayan, in the year 907 AF.
