Castle of Glass

Written by: Bard of Light and Shadow, Corwin al'Dejan-Wildfang

As I returned from a long journey, someone was asking about Caer Witrin.
I recalled a poem I had written, long ago - but searched the Poetry
boards and could not find it. If if lies here forgotten, I apologise for
the repetition.

Castle of Glass

Beauty and Darkness combined
This village set upon a Winter's page
Sweet Innocence that masks
The night-time's hidden rage

Hamlet of brightness, that like
Some fair blossom doth please the eye
And once ingested brings
Dark visions and great sorrow nigh

Pity the children playing
Happily in their streets of stone
Who scream and flee the stranger
With faces pale and grim as bone

Shadows in the mountain night
The wraiths of childhood stand
And call out for redemption
For justice in the land

I cry to you, high village
Caer Witrin - snowbound jewel
How can one, so sweet and fair
Disguise a heart so cruel?

Penned by my hand on the 15th of Daedalan, in the year 508 AF.
