A new home

Sonnet #12

Upon the leafy forest floor I trod
With padded steps. I whispered through the grove,
A southern wandering wind. My whims I drove
Before me like a flock on promenade,

Shorn and shivering beneath the skies.
I left behind my urban sentiments
To take a taste of leafy reverence
And sate the urge tranquility belies.

But what I found beneath the canopy,
Whence heady life ekes out of every pore,
Was satisfaction, full and evident.
So I shall make this verdant panoply
Of twig and leaf my home, ever more;
Within the heart of Nature, resident.

Penned by my hand on the 5th of Sarapin, in the year 429 AF.
