the autumn warns us
of it's arrival
the changing of the leaves
the cool scent in the air
the aroma of wood
burning in a hearth
it wafts through the air
an announcement that
winter is on it's way
the snowflakes add
an exclamation point
winter is here
the naked trees bend
to it's fury
the cold gray sky
merciless in its coldness
the snow blows
carrying with it
a dream of spring
the naked trees
a constant reminder
spring will be the end
of winter's fury
