On the Edge

Written by: Moonkissed Dreamer Alistaire De'Savet, Wife of the Darke

Standing on the edge, holding on for dear life
Looking down with gleaming eyes, I see the world
Which I've been told so eagerly waits me

Nervousness, eagerness, and impatience
All wrapped up into a bundle of trembling fur
I know I've got to jump, to fly, to make my way

These wings of mine are not tangible, sadly
I'm afraid I'll do naught but plummet helplessly
Will the awaiting be so eager if they see me crash?

I've been raised to value bravery, and courage
To put my best foot forward, and go with head high
But this task, I fear, is beyond the limits I can bear

My family of forestals, mainly, whom I hold dear
I dare not disappoint, for they encourage unceasingly
Are looking on so eagerly, waiting for me to take flight

I take a breath, and close my eyes, and take another
I'd rather do this blind, for then my death I would not see
Then gathering my heart, off the ledge I step

My stomach in my throat, I'm waiting for the crack
I just know that soon I'll meet the Mother that reigns Supreme
Goodbye, sweet world (or maybe cruel) that knew me not!

Or..not. Wait, is this acceptance that I feel?
I've taken my steps from the Loom to Certimene
Now a House shall be my home, and I'm welcomed

Hah! Take that, fear which held me back!
Of course, I knew I'd make it all along, I'm skilled
I just had to make it look good, to those who knew me naught.

Penned by my hand on the 13th of Miraman, in the year 402 AF.
