A poem about.. poems

<Last one..>

I've often posted to these boards
And I thought it now was time
To talk about types of poetry
And to do it all in rhyme.

Haikus are a form of poem
Of seventeen syllables, it seems
In lines of five and seven and five
And nature or flowers as their themes

Senryu is quite similar
In the structure that is used
But the subject matter is quite wider
And it's easy to get confused.

A sonnet is a poem of fourteen lines
With a somewhat complex rhyming template
Which is different depending upon
Which version you happen to contemplate.

Shaped poetry need not rhyme
Instead an image is created,
By the placement of the words on paper,
Which should link to the subject stated.

The limerick's biographical five lines
Rhyming pattern AA BB and A
Are usually used to rude intent
Which is such a shame, I say.

The clerihew is similar
With just four lines for your money
And when put all together
Is much less rude, but more funny.

Cinquain - five lines of verse, although
The authorities do not themselves align
On what your structure should be, and,
I cannot fit your permutations in one line.

Penned by my hand on the 11th of Lupar, in the year 395 AF.
