Dream Lover

A smile across the table
Bright eyes over a glass of wine
Shimmering like a dream in candlelight
And I know you are mine.

A walk back to my home
Arm in arm, I feel your body, warm
As I weave pictures in my head
Imagination given form.

In the doorway, you press
Your lips to mine, at last.
Visions swirl within my mind
Present, future, past.

I enter the room, alone
The only warmth is where the fire burns
A single bed, an empty house
And illusions vanish, as reality returns.

Penned by my hand on the 11th of Lupar, in the year 395 AF.
