The Leech of Cyrene

Down in Cyrene's sewers,
It's a very strange old life.
Although hermaphroditic, I've
No husband nor no wife.

I don't have many friends
Swimming in the muck.
Those I have are brainless!
Doesn't my life suck!

I dive and swim in places
You wouldn't like to know,
But to paraphrase the saying,
Sometimes you've gotta go!

The rats, they keep me company
With their merry little ways.
We both know how to navigate
This dark, effluvian maze.

Sometimes I sense a struggle
And then the taste of gore.
Sometimes a friend feeds well.
Sometimes a friend's no more.

Down here in the sewers,
Perhaps it's not that bad.
It's dark and warm and comforting
Asleep, in sewage clad.

Penned by my hand on the 11th of Aeguary, in the year 385 AF.
