The Satyr

Written by: Metrist Tewdrig Darkmist, the Roving Legato

The following was inspired by a poem in _Songs of Experience_ titled,
The Tyger" by the great William Blake.

Satyr! Satyr! Shining bright,
In the Taverns firelight,
What delightful mead or ale
Inspires thy voice in glad wassail?

In what distant field of grain
Shined the sun and fell the rain?
What proud farmer sowed the seed?
Swung the scythe in time of need?

What the barrel? What the keg?
In what dark hole were thrown the dregs?
Who would dare to test their art
On merry Satyrs insatiable heart?

When the maids with joy did swoon
And took thee to their sacred rooms,
Did he smile his work to see?
Was it the ale or was it thee?

Satyr! Satyr! Shining bright,
In the taverns firelight,
What delightful mead or ale
Inspires thy voice in glad wassail?

Penned by my hand on the 19th of Miraman, in the year 383 AF.
