Anonymous Comfort

I received this letter from an anonymous person, and I felt it very
beautiful and comforting, here it is...
.Silence.
Glistening stars
Blackened by the fog
Pollution from light
Only makes things darker
You watch a star...
It begins to flicker.
Flickering with every heartbeat...
But you know it's already dead.
You don't want to believe it.
But it's gone, it died long ago.
When you see its brilliant death,
Your heart breaks.
You don't want to accept it,
But you know it's done and gone.
A deathly silence overwhelms you.
All your thoughts are paused.
All you can do is sit in silence.
Breathing softly every five seconds.
You only hear the people passing by
As you sit against the wall.
Shadows wrap around you
You can feel their touch on your skin
There is no regret in believing
Only the sorrow of knowledge
The knowledge that the star is gone
One of those that light your path
Without it there has to be
A darkness where it was before.
You don't remember when it was bright.
You don't remember when it was dim.
You don't remember that it flickered.
You only knew that it was beautiful...
Now it's gone.
There may be more stars to light the path,
More rays of hope to let you carry on.
There are always stars to light the path.
But when one is gone,
You can still see that shadow.
The shadow where a star once was.
Let us weep in silence...
