Song of the Dead

Written by: The Algyrhythms' Lead Singer, Xaviere Moncrieff-Byron, The Alco-Cure

Addressed to: Thoth, God of Death

The world is greyer than it was,
The sky growing icier in my eyes
The frosted windows breathe my name
In shattered reflections.
I opened my mouth to reply
But no words came.

The light is darker than it shone,
Tarnished in my mind
That just rise up to the clouds
And drip with a sigh.
I felt the beat of my heart
Only You heard it die.

The song I played all my life
That never got to an end,
I never played it to anyone else
But it played for You instead.
It never wanted to end,
It never wanted to stop,
It never faded away.
So it's no surprise,
It never died...

The tears are colder than before,
I never knew them to be this harsh.
The softer scratches are the deepest
Gouging deep into my soul,
Rip away all the strings
And there's nothing left at all.

The room is smaller than I thought,
It swallows me whole
In its ethereal gloom,
It's just the way it has to end,
The path that I took
The one I started long ago.

The song I played all my life
That never got to an end,
I never played it to anyone else
But it played for You instead.
It never wanted to end,
It never wanted to stop,
But it always fades away.
It always dies...

It always dies...

- The Poet Xaviere, Lady Moncrieff-Byron

Penned by my hand on the 7th of Daedalan, in the year 365 AF.
