Fallen From Grace

A vision of gold and white,
Long hair and soft wings,
You gave me a bright halo
And whispered of better things

I gave all myself to you,
Beauty and wealth fit for kings--
You smiled in sweet pleasure
But you wanted other flings

Now I've fallen from grace,
My halo tarnished and lost
Laying here where I've been tossed
I simply can't bear the cost
Of being fallen from grace

The summers grow cold, now
With you turned away
I want to scream for you
And loose the things I need to say

You pretend to listen
But I can see your gaze stray
And instead of healing words
You just leave me disarray

Now I've fallen from grace,
My halo tarnished and lost;
Laying here where I've been tossed
I simply can't bear the cost
Of being fallen from grace

I lay here broken-hearted
When through the pain I see
That all the things I'd thought you took
Are still inside of me

I know now I don't need you
As I watch you flit and flee--
I can be just who I want
Without your grand decree

Now I've fallen from grace,
My halo tarnished and lost;
Laying here where I've been tossed
I simply can't bear the cost
Of being fallen from grace

No longer fallen from grace,
A halo of my own
I don't need to lay prone
I'm strong enough alone
To find my own fine grace
