Holding On

Holding On
-------------------

Endless sorrow rejects the morning sun
Darkness seeping deeper under the skin
Despair becoming the norm
Fighting the blackness of night
Struggling against the storm
Disaster looming silently near

Thoughts thrown violently from the mind
Doubts shed hopelessly on silent ears
Losing the battle to live
Sensing the end coming near
Searching for a way to escape
Breaking the final barriers

Mind frantically trying to resist
Seeking a method to survive
Defending itself to the last thought
World fading from thought
Joy disappearing into nothingness
Heart sunk and broken

Grasping at a solution balancing on the edge
Holding on to matters that mean dear
Seeking consolation in words
Placing quill upon parchment
Emotions flow steadily out
Heard by many understood by few

Happiness returns slowly
Body reflects the heart
Clinging mightily to the work
Love returns joyfully
Playfulness overshadows the pain
Remembrance maintains the soul.

Penned by my hand on the 24th of Sarapin, in the year 352 AF.
