Rats

Ode to the Rats

O, poor, poor rat,
Your life is so short.
It ends so very quickly,
It's the ephemeral sort.

Rats proliferate so quickly,
They live in every city.
To attempt rat genocide
Would be an exercise in futility.

Rats, rats, they're everywhere!
You can hear the scurrying
Through the streets and sewers,
To get their share of garbage, they're scurrying!

But rats are our friends
But rats are our friends.
They're as efficient as humgiis, you see,
Without rats to eat all our trash,
Where would our cities be?

They would be dumps,
With empty shot glasses as far as the eye can see.
Streets covered in litter,
Unclean as can be.

To some people, rats are
A plague, a pest, or a source of quick money,
But they eat all our garbage.
How we ignore that, I find it quite funny.

So the next time you stare down a rat,
Ready to slay the poor vermin,
Just remember that every city's cleanliness,
The rats will determine.

Penned by my hand on the 23rd of Sarapin, in the year 352 AF.
