Lost

Written by: Scarlatti, the Great Bard
Date: Thursday, November 27th, 2003
Addressed to: Selene, Goddess of Beauty and Love

I sought you, knowing only your name, and
What was said of you; amid the crowds' swell,
I saw you ... I fell. Catching your pale hand,
Fully, utterly, deeply lost, I fell.
Like a child seeing the sky for the first,
Gaping upwards, ever upwards, back bent,
Tumbling backward over, heart fit to burst,
Too full to even weep for joy, too spent.
Or wandering through a trackless forest,
Enchanted, drawn deep through the arboured ground,
Chasing secret beauty, running for lost,
So lost that I never want to be found.
You seek me, lost, and catch me as I fall,
Safe in your arms, yours, forever, for all.

Penned by my hand on the 5th of Ero, in the year 350 AF.
