I Dreamt of the Moon

Greetings Achaea -

I wrote this poem a good time ago and submitted it into the contests,
and won nothing for it. But even so, it has won a special place in my
heart and so I thought I'd post it here for you all to read. I wrote
this after I was kicked from the Lady Ourania's Order.

I Dreamt of the Moon

I stared at the moon,
And basked in its light.
I smiled as it reflected,
Behind me in the water.

I layed my head upon,
The gentle pillow of sand.
I stared up into the skies,
And drifted into sleep.

I dreamt of things,
Wild and tame.
I dreamt of lives,
Power and fame.
I dreamt of men,
And women, it's true.
I dreamt of the Moon,
And then of You.

I awoke,
Feeling refreshed and renewed.
I smiled and stretched,
My mind still on You.

Now as I stare,
Towards the sky,
The pain of the moonlight,
Burns my eyes.

My home is gone,
And I am alone.
Your Eyes hold dissappointment,
Which burns my heart.

I am a child,
Whose cheeks are wet.
My Mother has left me,
For my own failures,
I shall never forget.

And now as I lay,
My head upon the harsh sand,
I close my burning eyes,
And forget my wet cheeks,
And drift into forgetfulness.

I now realize I craved not the moonlight,
But rather only dreamt of the moon.
