Dusk for the Dawnspear

Victory was at hand on a battlefield strewn with remnants of physical and remembered blood.

As Gods and mortals dispersed in witness to the first light of what seemed to be triumphant dawn, a subtle shadow quietly traversed the morning's embrace. Soft murmurs, barely discernible amidst the crescendo of joyous exclamations, conveyed a silent warning that went unnoticed in the moment's grandeur.

Regrettably, no one heeded its silent plea.

Later, the Lord of Righteousness approached the gates of Shallam. With earlier doubts looming over the impending battle, He had altered His army's tactics, instituting His design that carried on tirelessly in the background. This allowed His forces to immerse themselves in the battle while meshing the Dawnspear with Memory continued undisturbed.

The ultimate effect of this strategy on the conflict was unclear, yet the unfolding consequences were undeniable. Targossas, the Dawnspear, was interwoven with Shallam's Memory, initiating a gradual yet pervasive siphoning phenomenon. Initially, small fragments began to vanish, soon escalating to include more significant segments of the city: sweeping areas, rooms, residents, and entire familial lines started their fading journey, disappearing.

The Dawnspear seemed to be fading away.

Seized by a sudden realisation, the Righteous Fire immediately summoned His Bloodsworn. Without a word, They acknowledged that time was of the essence, and Both moved. While He focused on containing the escalating situation at the ritual site, She delved deeper into Memory, preparing for the possibility of a worst-case scenario.

Meanwhile, the citizens of the Dawnspear rallied, although lacking the Divine guidance that once steered them towards certainty. Yen and Aeowynn orchestrated a ritual to strengthen the city's link to the Prime, while Aniara and Bahtell embarked on a mission to retrieve those lost.

In a subsequent effort, Alyzar, Halos, and Karalden guided a ritual aiming to eradicate the connecting thread. Unfortunately, this tactic backfired, exacerbating the issue and causing a greater portion of Targossas to be consumed by Memory.

With their dawn slipping away, the Dawnspear faced down its dusk, their determination and resolve the last thing Memory would strip from their isles. A pressing question lingered in the mind of one observer within her icy tower: Could the supposed guardians of Creation's sanctity halt this spreading calamity before it ventured beyond their borders?

Synopsis: The Dawnspear began to fade into Memory as a consequence of their ritual to oppose the Prince of Woe.

Penned by My hand on the 15th of Aeguary, in the year 926 AF.
