No Good Deed...

It was a late summer morning in 742 AF when young Belin decided to break free of the shackles holding him back and take his first step into a larger world. Stories of legendary unarmed warriors had echoed in his ears from when he was a mere infant, and he desperately wished that for himself and his life.

Venturing north from his home village, he first travelled to Delos, then New Thera, but finding none there able to assist him his journey continued west and southwards. Eyes alert, the boy clambered up and along rocky mountain paths before finally reaching the entrance to Cyrene, Heart of the Vashnars.

Just past the tunnel into the city proper he was met by two adventurers, Autune Ashaela and his companion Shalana, both of whom offered their assistance to the adventurous child. The boy explained his plight; first recounting his escape from and his early life at the hands of a cruel and drunk parent, then speaking, starry-eyed of an unarmed warrior who had once visited his village, and finally insisting on his own wish for a better life. Belin asked if they knew of "Seentar" who lived far to the south and if the adventurers might help him get there on a ship, where he would become a great monk one day.

With the timely assistance of Laedha Zviera and Elstan Vorondil, the impromptu party journeyed to the Aalen harbour and embarked upon Laedha's ship, the Jacaranda Blossom, before they set sail for Rageteeth Beach. They were blessedly untroubled by the monsters that call the wine-dark depths home. With Elstan in the lead, they disembarked upon the southern continent and were soon stood within the entrance of the Judgement Mountain monastery. Presenting the boy to Grandmaster Kevadrin, the group was directed to Davkas in the Chamber of Welcoming.

An interview ensued. The aging instructor questioned the boy and his escorts. Autune spoke fiercely upon the child's behalf, urging the monks to accept a new initiate among their number, a sentiment echoed by Laedha, Elstan, and Shalana. The boy spoke of the stories he had heard, the discipline of the monks, and that he wanted them to help him learn what they knew.

Judgement was given, Davkas' permission granted, and the young boy, Belin, became the monastery's newest initiate.
