Friends and Rivals

We are introducing two new systems today: friends and rivals. Though
their uses do not really correspond, both of these systems are based
upon the principle of mutual consent. You can only be formal friends or
rivals with those who also declare you as a friend or rival.

Mutually defined friends will have available certain commands, such as
PARTY INVITE FRIENDS, QW FRIENDS, and WATCHFOR ADD <friend>, which
allows you to receive an alert when that friend enters the realms, if
and only if that friend has CONFIG WATCHFORALLOW ON. Details in HELP
FRIENDS.

Mutually defined rivals have basically entered into an agreement with
each other that each can attack the other at will for the duration of
the rivalry, which can be time limited or indefinite. This means no PK
cause counting, no issuing about illegal PK, etc, between rivals. If you
enter into a rivalry with anyone else, PLEASE BE CERTAIN YOU UNDERSTAND
AND ACCEPT THE IMPLICATIONS. Details in HELP RIVALS.

By the way, a number of you helped playtest friends and rivals before
the help file about rivals and what it meant for PK cause went in. Thank
you for that! Now, let me just say that if any of you take advantage of
the rivalries formed during that testing period to go and hunt down
people who rivalled you without knowing precisely what it would mean
later, without their agreement, I will be unhappy.

Much kudos to the Merchant Lord for volunteering his time and coding for
this project!
