Your Oath

Written by: Eris, Goddess of Chaos
Date: Thursday, May 14th, 1998
Addressed to: GrandMaster Laergon, the Fist of Gaia

As far as Laergon's oath to me goes, I assure you that I will make all decisions on if and when he breaks the oath. I do not care if a tsol'aa lives in the Aalen forest or lives in Epicurus' Forest Garden. I do not care if an otherwise forest dwelling tsol'aa buys food or supplies in Ashtan. And, finally, I will not take kindly to any more of Laergon's contemptible efforts to dictate to me what his oath means and under what circumstances I may or may not punish him for breaking that oath. The judgment is mind and mine alone.

Although, Gaia, you may have opinions about the propriety of fighting in self defense, Laergon did not make his oath to you. As far as I am concerned, he is certainly capable of running away if a forest dwelling tsol'aa attacks him. Obviously, he should have sworn his oath to you, but he did not. Let this be a lesson to all mortals stupid enough to make an oath to chaos.

Penned by my hand on the 11th of Valnuary, in the year 191 AF.
