hunt or be hunted... evolution

Element,
Indeed, that is a way of life which promotes evolutionary advancement.
But there comes a time when you must ask yourself a question:
"Am I, human or animal?"
(or whatever race you might be)
Most of us like to think that we are better than mere animals...perhaps in arrogance (but then, a certain level of self-esteem, and self-confidence, is healthy).
Anyway..
Us being intelligent beings, whose souls exist at higher energy levels, are intelligent enough to ask the next question:
"What, then, is an animal, and how is it different to me?"
"What am I?"
"What is my purpose?"
"From whence do I come"
The next logical step is to think about this, study animals, and study yourself. Study those around you. After much deliberation, you will most likely be confused, but you may come up with the following:
"Animals live only for the minute, with no planning for the future. This simple life, while ideal for physical advancement through evolution, is handicapped by that same trait which makes it strong. By not planning for the future, the animal lessens it's chances of survival. Hence the squirrel which hoards it nuts survives teh long winter, while another animal might not.
Which, then, is the most advanced on the evolutionary scale?
The sqirrel, obviously.
So some animals are less animal-like than others, if you define an animal as a being which lives totally for the moment.
Then you might think to yourself, what am I?
Depending on who you are, you will see different things...you might see youself as little more than an advanced animal, hoarding food for the winter. You might be a farmer, growing excess food, keeping some, and trading the rest, thereby not only having food for the winter, but other things, things to make you comfortable, things to help you survive natural disasters, things which just let you spend more time debating philosophy, and less time struggling to survive.
Who, then, is the most advanced along the evolutionary scale? Intelligent animal (hunter) which plans for only the next few years, and spends most of it's time surviving? Or the farmer who produces more from less effort, and spends the extra time preparing for the future many years down the track? The farmer who now has time to debate questions such as these and advance themselves _mentally_ along the evolutionary time scale?
And what must happen, then, when the hunters interrupt the farmers advancement? The hunters are physically stronger, hence they win. Except that the farmers find safety in numbers, they build cities, governments. The hunters are eventually defeated, and partially incorporated into "society". But they never fit in, and it is this clash between hunter and farmer, between "animals" and those who have advanced beyond this primitive way of thinking, that causes wars. And it is not a clearly defined war, as animals are found everywhere among us.
We come now to a paradox, because if you decide that for the good of mankind you must cull all animals, then you are in danger of reversing your own evolutionary progress, you are in danger of becoming little more than an animal yourself.
But I have written far too much, I never intended this to be so long, so I'll stop here, even though there is more I would say.
