Listen up,
The Delosian Jousting League is holding a tournament, and I'm putting the word out. The DJL has been running since 908 AF - nearly a century of knights, lancers, and riders testing themselves against one another in the lists. It's a worthy institution, and this milestone year deserves a proper showing.
Here's what you need to know.
+ This will take place on the 15th of Scarlatan 1000AF. One day past the Serenade bell. Don't be late.
+ The format will be Single Elimination. You lose, you're done. Simple enough.
+ This will be hosted in Delos, at the local arena there.
+ The Entry Fee will be 50,000 gold sovereigns per rider. This isn't a casual afternoon - come ready to compete, or take a seat in the stands.
+ There will be a prize purse to the winner comprised of the sum of the entry fees, plus 60 credits. To second place will go 25 credits. To third will go 15 credits.
The credits have been generously donated by Sir Aodfionn Wintermourne. Any further contributions, should any desire, will contribute accordingly, as well as assist in covering services rendered for the event.
Beyond the purse, medals will be awarded in four categories: Most Lances Broken, Most Riders Unseated, Most Nimble, and Finest Steed. The last will be decided by the crowd itself. There's something to ride for even if the bracket doesn't go your way.
-------------------------
To those of you who won't be in the saddle - you're still wanted. A tournament is nothing without an audiance, and this one auth to draw a crowd worth having. Wheather you're a seasoned riders who's hung up the lance or simply someone who appreciates the sight of two riders hitting each other at full gallop, come and watch. Bring your friends, family. Fill the stands.
Beyond spectating, we're looking for volunteers. Three things specifically:
+ Commentators - If you've got a sharp eye and a voice that carries, we could use you. You should know enough about jousting to tell the crowd what they're seeing and keep the energy up between passes. Experience preferred. Enthusiasm required.
+ Refreshments - Someone needs to keep the people fed and watered throughout the day. If you've got the means and the inclination to provide food, drink, or both for those in attendance, reach out. Even if this means contracting for catering, so long as no one ends up dead or missing some precious ring.
+ Scorekeepers and Marshals - Tracking lances broken, riders unseated, and keeping the b racket moving cleanly takes focused eyes and steady hands. If you're organised and won't crack under pressure, could certainly use you in the viewing box.
Contact me directly if you're interested in any of the above. All involved will be compensated for their efforts.
This is the thousandth year since the Fall. A fitting time to remind the realm what discipline, horsemanship, and steel are worth.
