A response to the Light

I've participated in enough conversations with adherents to "Light" to know the simple truth behind their words: "Creation" is stagnation. "Light" is maintaining the status quo. "Righteousness" is "Sit down until your superiors tell you to stand."

The simple truth is that the oxymoronically-named "Creation" is diametrically opposed to the act of creating. Those who worship "Creation" and "Light" are, in reality, worshiping a nostalgic image of the past and veneration of the ideas of long-dead individuals, at the cost of a possibly more-glorious better future.

It is Chaos, not "Creation", that creates. It is Chaos that drives the engine of change, of adaptation, of Ambition. This acceptance of change is why Ashtan, the eldest city, still stands - not as a monument to history, but as a beacon, an ideal, an image of what civilization can look like when it adapts to the needs of her citizens and lifts them up, encouraging them to stoke the fires of their own Ambitions.

When something has outlived its usefulness, as most of young Targossas ironically has, tear it down and use that material to build something better. Or take the lesson of Ashtan's Warpwood: If someone tries to mar your face, take that scar and adapt it, turn it into art, a symbol of your own resilience.

I typically prefer somewhere more private and quiet than the crossroads north of New Thera for my meditations and studies, but I am likewise reachable by other means should anyone wish to discuss the philosophies of Chaos and Ashtan.

At Any Cost,
