An apology and explanation

King Tu'eras,
I will start with an apology. You are correct that this situation and your people do not deserve sarcasm and quips. I am sorry for treating it with less than it deserves. I should have separated my intended message towards Eleusis and to you, so that I might give you proper respect.
With my apology, I offer a better explanation. I have combed our newsposts, parsed our libraries, and I have read the book written by then-senator Laorir which has the account of the events in the Aalen. I read it when it was published, and I read it again last month. In it, there is no record of such an oath. I am not claiming that oaths die with their signer. The unfortunate truth is that Cyrene has no record of this oath. We have only your word spoken to us now. I do not say this invalidates the oath - I don't take you for a man who would lie. Perhaps sentiment was miscommunicated as long term official commitment.
In recent times, as you know, we have taken other oaths. Oaths that mean we are dedicated to spread the Empire we are now a part of. To hear of one oath after making another, we must ask ourselves: Should we go against the oath we just made? The Divine promise our city collectively made to the Patron who protects our city from the Sky Tower's onslaught every day, whose great domain blesses so much of the world with abundance? To pull out of the Aalen would be a great insult to Him.
I know my answer. I await my city's.
