To the Senators and People of Oceanus' Gate,
We three, Aurola, Bulwer, and Eril Rian, once sworn to Hashan, and we
come forward now, seeking to make amends for the path chosen, and our
silence and service within those days that brought peril to your city,
for we recognize its course as folly.
Over a period of months we lent ourselves in some manner or fashion to
the grim labour of research, testing and refining the force that would
one day be borne against the Cerulean Spire. Lives were lost, yet we
pressed on. Though we wished only to see Gaderian freed, we do not deny
knowledge that harm to Oceanus' Gate would be inevitable in this course.
When the gold-and-crimson charge was rolled across Lake Muurn, our names
were already written in its design.
This we regret most deeply. Intent cannot wash away consequence. We were
complicit by deed, by silence, and by misplaced loyalty to a city that
abandoned wisdom for ambition.
Know this: we renounce Hashan. We reject the folly that guided its
leaders, and we vow that never again shall our strength be lent to any
who would imperil Oceanus' Gate. By the measure of the Imperial Charter,
we shall prove our words henceforth.
May these words stand as the first stone of amends, and may our deeds
hereafter give them truth.
