A challenge to Arcadia

Sapience, and Centurion Maedhros,

I did not know that dumping refuse upon public roads had become common behaviour in this day and age. For centuries, we in Targossas, and indeed in every other city, have known to use sewers or other responsible means of disposal. Even Eleusis, so entwined with the wilds, does not foul its own paths. Forgive me, but even non-sentient animals are known to carry waste away from the heart of their hives.

Yet Arcadia has seen fit to heap its filth upon the public road. This is not only unsightly but profoundly unsanitary - especially when we so recently endured a plague, where healers and priests alike urged diligence in sanitation practices, and prayer. When confronted, they claim that this act of dumping refuse on public roads is a military necessity, and proceeded to dump waste before the very eyes of our Dawnlord. Again, on a public road.

This open disrespect led to quarrel and a minor skirmish. But it was Arcadia who immediately escalated, ordering their Guard Captain to send soldiers east and declaring Targossas hostile. These guards now roam the highways, and instead of meeting us in battle, they choose to cut down Targossian citizens, soldier or not, indiscriminate of their intentions and motives.

I find the act of preying upon the weak - often two or three against one - profoundly dishonourable. Is this truly the conduct of Arcadian 'Knights'?

Therefore, let it be known: it was I who led the Targossian strike against the city of Arcadia in justified retaliation for their dishonourable attacks upon our people, and their unsanitary practices.

And if Arcadia truly believes its cause to be just, then let us settle the matter in honour - I hereby issue an open challenge: let any single champion of Arcadia step forth and meet me in combat, and I shall answer. Or, if they believe their strength lies in number, then let our armies face each other upon the field.
