A hymn

"To Drown in Shallow Waters"

~~~
In honour of Lord Neraeos, God-Emperor of the Sea
~~~

I stood once quiet upon the shore,
Afraid to want, afraid to more-
But He called not to the bold alone,
He whispered deep in undertone.

"Let no waters be too shallow to drown you,"
He sang in every tide that found you.
Not just the storm, but still and small,
the whole of the ocean, he claims it all.

So I stepped where light still kissed the bay,
Where minnows danced and children play.
And yet I sank - I chose to drown-
In joy, in wrath, in love unbound.

And I, unmade, was born in flame -
a Passion kindled in His name.
My pulse now beats with ocean's sound,
Each breath a wave, each step His ground.

No fear have I of "shallow" things-
A glance, a wish, the spark it brings.
A dream half-formed, a fleeting gleam-
All Passion flows into His stream.

And when I rise, I rise His tide,
With none to shame, and none to hide.
A tempest borne of soul and song,
For whom all hesitations wrong.

I kneel not meek but fierce and free,
To He who is the endless sea.
O God-Emperor, storm and flame-
I drown in You, and praise Your name.

Penned by my hand on the 25th of Daedalan, in the year 978 AF.
