To Sing in Noctic Sea - Maritime Poem No.1

Oh, the sky was weepin,
the waves did roar,
As we hoisted sails
for the old Noctic shores
With a curse on our lips
and a song in our soul,
We followed the winds
where drowned voices roll.
Oh, the mast it did shudder,
and the ropes, they did strain,
but none flinched or faltered-
through salty lash and pain.
For the gods do not listen
to cowardly cries-
Only men made of iron
win in darkened, bloodied skies.
Oh, the night came so sudden,
like a beast with no name,
It spoke in dead tongues,
with eyes carved from bane.
So we stood on the deck
with our backs to the mast,
And we sang through the dark-
with our voices like flames.
Oh, the storm left us battered,
but our voices held fast,
And though sails tore like ribbons,
they clung to the mast.
And the darkness sang -
of where no man belongs,
As the compass spun wild
and danced to its song.
Yet the voice in our throats
became more than a cry,
And it lifted the ship,
and the black passed us by.
So the sea fell beneath us,
the dark lost its claim-
For the song we had sung
tore the dark from the waves.
So on dark nights
when the tides start to moan,
You'll hear a faint chorus
in a tongue not your own-
So raise your voice to the wind,
let it cast out your doubt,
For the sea hears the brave-
and a song will lead you out.
