On snubbing

I would like some of you to consider this. The SNUB command is a fairly
recent addition to Achaea, meant to address cases where interaction with
another adventurer becomes seriously detrimental to one's playing
experience. Snubbing is by and large an OOC action, but there are
legitimate situations where snubbing is desirable. Just as in filing an
issue against another player, however, it should be the last option, not
the first. We've seen more and more cases where snubbing is used too
lightly, as if Achaea is an instant messenger client where blocking
someone is no big deal, or just to get the last word in an argument.

We've added a new paragraph to HELP SNUB, written by a helpful Garden
resident. It reads:

Snubbing is a tool designed to protect you from serious unwanted
interaction and is not something that should be used lightly or for
trivial reasons. Character interaction -- even unfriendly character
interaction -- is a cornerstone of the Achaean experience, and you are
encouraged to pursue more productive avenues of conflict resolution than
simply snubbing everyone who offends you.

Please think about this the next time you feel the inclination to SNUB
someone. Ask yourself if it's truly that serious, and don't do it out of
the emotion of a moment which may pass. This is a small thing, but small
things can add up in big ways.

Penned by my hand on the 10th of Valnuary, in the year 455 AF.
