Year 450!

Year 450 approaches near! Achaean veterans, you know what that means:
every 50 Achaean years there are grand festivities throughout the realm,
commemorating the fall of the Seleucarian Empire and the rise of the
Modern Age.

This year-long celebration includes a special lottery, surprises, and
games galore. Most exciting of these are the Championship Games, a
series of competitions that test the wits and skills of all who dare
enter, including a two vs two combat tournament, tumble races, a quiz on
all things Achaean, and more. The famed Staff of Nicator, a magical
artefact of legendary power gifted to the founder of Seleucar hundreds
of years ago by Sarapis, the Logos, is traditionally passed down to the
grand champion of the Championship Games. In the Year 400 Championship
Games, Reiye Wildfang triumphed and won the Staff of Nicator. Bookies,
start your bets on who will claim this glory in Year 450!

An initial schedule of most (but not all) events has been posted at
http://www.achaea.com/year450.htm. The festivities begin on 1 Sarapin
450, which corresponds to roughly 0:00 GMT on May 6th, Sunday. Don't
miss the treasure hunt, where bags of goodies ranging from gold to
commodities to artefacts will be buried in scattered locations all
across the world! The Year 450 Lottery will also open at that time,
offering chances to win thousands of credits.

Though the last day of Year 450 falls on May 18th, a Friday, we will
usher out the year with a thrilling game of City vs City Capture the
Flag on Saturday, May 19th, where all cities will have a chance to
compete for the Effigy of Victory!

Penned by my hand on the 16th of Glacian, in the year 448 AF.
