19.4.5 Credit Loans

(See also: HELP CREDIT TRANSFER)

The loans system allows for formalised loans between a player and another player, or an organisation.

Organisations cannot currently loan to one another -the person being given the loan must be a player. If you owe people a loan, you cannot retire until you repay that loan.

To begin working on a loan agreement:

LOAN COMPOSE FOR <person taking out the loan>

Once you have started composing an agreement, you must set various attributes of that agreement:

LOAN PARTY <loaning party>: this can either be yourself or a city or house. Only city and house leaders may currently issue loans on behalf of their organisation.

LOAN AMOUNT <amount> <currency>: current supported currencies are credits. We may expand this to other currencies later if people find the system useful.

Once these fields are set, you must:

LOAN OFFER

The loan will then enter a pending state during which time the offer can be accepted by the targeted party with LOAN ACCEPT <loan number>.

So, for a full example:

Makarios wishes to offer a loan of 500 credits to Nicola. Makarios would enter:

LOAN COMPOSE FOR NICOLA

LOAN PARTY MAKARIOS

LOAN AMOUNT 500 CREDITS

LOAN OFFER

Nicola would then get a message about the loan and would do:

LOAN LIST (to find the number of the pending loan, let's say it is #1)

LOAN ACCEPT 1

Now hopefully Nicola will use:

LOAN REPAY <loan number> <number to repay> to repay Makarios loan.

Loan repayments can be in any amount up to the full amount, it does not need to be done all at the same time.
