Ships are a recent and exciting addition to Achaea. There are, at present,
only two types of ship available for purchase by adventurers. The first of
these is the Thalassian seastrider, which can be commissioned through
Captain Maelstrom in a hidden port in Tasur'ke. The cost of a Thalassian
seastrider is five million gold sovereigns. Once you find Captain
Maelstrom, the command to purchase a ship is: COMMISSION SEASTRIDER.
The second type of ship is the Windcutter which is a smaller nimbler ship able
to turn more quickly than the Seastrider. This ship has less deck space and a
smaller room for cabin expansions, and a bit less speed running before the
wind. For its disadvantages the Windcutter is available for a mere 2.5 million
gold sovereigns. If you wish to commission one of these you should seek out
Shipwright Hawkins in the shipyards in Eastern Shore where you can COMMISSION
WINDCUTTER.
With a ship, you can navigate the vast oceans surrounding the continent of
Sapience, giving commands to your denizen crew which will result in your
ship being sailed or rowed through the wilderness map interface (see HELP
WILDERNESS). You can discover and explore islands which can only be reached
by ships. Plans for future updates to ships include the ability to deep-sea
fish, dive for treasure, battle with other ships, and more.
Harbours may be found all around Sapience and on many of the surrounding
islands. Type HARBOUR at any harbour to see available commands.
Man-made harbours will have more available commands than natural harbours,
such as hiring denizen crew and purchasing repairs.
