Let go

I remember our first kiss
A daisy upon the meadow
A faceless mask
You were merely a shadow

Your ambitions like fire
A patchwork attitude
Your desire for me
A wordless solitude

You burn bright before me
Towering in size
Your potential growing beyond
Though you scorch me as I try
To never let go

I've fallen from grace
A maestro to a slave
To nothing more than
Being told to behave

I hear the whispers
Your responsibilities
Taking you away again
Forced sensibilities

So i sit and wait for you
Meek and afraid
As your duties make you great
My fingers slipping as I try
To never let go

Penned by my hand on the 6th of Phaestian, in the year 807 AF.
