A challenge

Sapience,

An active threat lurks beneath our waters, and it is time that we stand together and quell the beast beneath. I am speaking of course, of the fabled kraken which has been sighted four times in recent years.

Each time, the Pirates of Meropis made sure to draw the kraken as far from ports as is practicably possible in order to slay the threat and prevent more damage than it would do, say if it attacked a harbour of unmanned ships.

Yes, some of you assisted, and your valiant efforts are appreciated, but we alone cannot keep the waters safe. Certainly many of your organizations such as Cyrene's rag-tag crew of seamonster-sitters or the Mariners Guild (Is that even still a thing?) claim to keep the waters safe. However, many of these captains are conspicuously absent when there is a real threat at sea.

So, to the real point, what to do?

I issue this challenge to you- Bring the monster out and slay him.

I issue this challenge with conditions as there is a prize and I would be remiss not to lay some groundrules:

To win, you must not be a Pirate of Meropis, or a crew member who works or sales with Pirates. We do enough work to combat this threat, we're not paying our own.

To win, you must provide notice to a Pirate and invite them to board for your voyage so that your progress may be monitored and your tale may have more validity than a fisherman's measurement.

Note: A pirate aboard your ship for this purpose is there exclusively to oversee progress, and will not crew for you or provide hints. Likewise, he or she will not steal from you. If they do, let me know, and I will be certain to remove them from our ranks.

The Prize: a full set of 1000 of each ammunition type provided by me as well as maybe a neat shiny if I am able to procure one.

Will you rise to the challenge, or continue to over-hunt the shallow end of the oceans?

Best of luck sailors!

Pirate King and First Kraken Hunter, Jinsun Ze'Dekiah

Penned by my hand on the 21st of Daedalan, in the year 820 AF.
