joviality

I do not really want to add my writing to be picked apart and
misunderstood as are so many posts. I chose to write a post however
because I have a small idea that could be used by 3 groups that I am a
part of, and perhaps others will be interested. I know it may sound
light and frivoulous but ... darn ... the dark and serious has been
given too much attention already.

In a small SE Asian country in Mundania, there is a Minister of
Happiness. He makes sure that his people have a chance to enjoy life,
(one thing each family recieves is a mundanian picture box), and
endeavors that all citizens have a chance to see the lighter side of
life. And in ancient Mundania there had been gods who embodied the
spirit of fun, festivities, and good will ... accentuating good nature
...even negating dark acts of others.

I suggest to my guild and city that such a free minister be added, and
suspect other such groups would benefit from the same. Such a person
would not only be allowed, but expected, to find ways to make things
laughable ... in deed the minister can poke fun, can call to the unhappy
to hear them out, can play games at any time. Favors would be happily
given to those who encourage laughter, who make life here more
enjoyable.

I would suggest to Sarapis that he find the missing god of Joviality.
What a wonderful opposite to the darkness, what a needed attitude in the
face of chaos or war. In deed, again, the god would find fodder for
laughter, could find those who sow sorrow and poke fun, could accentuate
the happiness to be found. The acts of random happiness are limited only
by imagination. There should be drinking competitions, there should
dares, and double dares, good natured contests between the varied
characers of the realm.

We have all arrived in Sapience for enjoyment ... not hurt feelings, not
name-calling, not for restrictions. I have said my idea is small. Can
others help it grow?

Penned by my hand on the 7th of Mayan, in the year 308 AF.
