Dear Demiurge,
I wanted to point out a rather major flaw in your reasoning. It seems
rather common amongst Occultists. This is mainly the difference
between Chaos, and chaos. You state that: "I recognize that Chaos
has already entered, and been dispersed throughout the multiverse. It
is around us,within us, a part of us." It is not Chaos that is around
us,
within us, or a part of us, it is chaos as the histories clearly state.
"So, he was forced to cause Entropy and Discord to disperse across
Creation, adding chaos to it."
Note the distinction made between Chaos and chaos. It has been
mentioned by your Goddess in conversations and posts such as 9562
and 9548. To review the premise, it was Chaos that was dispersed
and diluted, adding chaos to Creation. This chaos poses little danger
to Creation as there is simply not enough of it concentrated in any
one spot. However, Chaos, which the Lady Eris has claimed as Her
niche, has as much to do with chaos as a candle's flame has to do
with a raging inferno. They are similar, as they both share similar
properties, but very different in scope. So, it would seem the
distinction between chaos and Chaos is that chaos is very small
amounts of the substance which comes from the Chaos realm, and
Chaos is large amounts. Whether you feel the need to pretend that
Chaos is in fact chaos due to your own wishful thinking that what
you are doing is not dangerous, I don't know, but if your theories are
based on your belief that Chaos and chaos are the same, then that
doesn't say much for your theories.
From the accounts the historians give us of the Chaos Wars, we are
given quite a bit of information to go on regarding the nature of
Chaos and the affect a large amount of it has on Creation; namely,
the rapid unraveling of Creation, and the near total destruction
requiring the intervention of Ayar Himself. Now the Logos has
reassured us that the whole of Creation is relatively safe from this
threat. The exact quote is, "It is true that Creation itself will never
be
threatened by total destruction. However, it is worth pointing out
that the small part of Creation occupied by mortals very well could
be destroyed by Chaos. Do not make the mistake of thinking
yourselves to be the focus of all reality and do not make the mistake
of thinking that I will intervene to "save" you from whatever fate
you bring upon yourselves." (Public post 142 for those interested in
the complete text)
I would say the fact that Chaos could very well destroy the part of
Creation occupied by mortals, all of us who are not Divine, is a
cause for concern. Some will ask themselves, how exactly would
Chaos destroy this part of Creation? And for the answer to that, one
simply has to read the histories. I am no scholar, but even I can
understand the statement that Chaos is anathema to Creation, and
when introduced into Creation at high levels, it unravels the
structure that makes up Creation. Without this structure, its rather
difficult for important things to happen, like the sun to rise, our
hearts to beat, our air to be breathable, logical thought, our brains to
function, basically everything. Without this structure, there is no
self-awareness, creation, creativity, or anything else it seems that
those who embrace Chaos actually seem to desire. Whether you like
it or not, this realm is quite dependent on its structure to exist. Not
the structure of Chaos or anything else, but its own structure.
Now, as an Occultist, what do you have to do with any of this? You
state that you are tapping into the potential and secrets of Chaos.
The question is this: how can you know that this does not really
perpetuate it? That said, if you do not understand the nature of that
which you are using, are you not putting people in danger merely
through irresponsibility? What of your forays into the Chaos Plane,
bringing beings of Chaos back to this realm? Does this not increase
the presence of Chaos in our realm? Or when you yourselves change
into Chaos Lords to increase your own power, is this not increasing
the presence of Chaos in our realm?
What happens when high levels of Chaos are introduced to
Creation? Well, no need to repeat myself.
The rest of your essay seems to be pure conjecture with little facts to
back it up, and in direct contradiction to quite a few portions of the
histories so I will not respond to them, as they do not matter.
Thus we have conflict. You believe that Chaos is something that can
be controlled and manipulated to give you greater power, and thus
are either powerhungry enough to ignore the extreme danger you
place yourself and everyone else in, or you have already been driven
mad from your exposure to Chaos and could care less the
consequences of your actions. Either way, those of the Church and
others who can see the facts of the situation feel it necessary to
combat this introduction of Chaos into our realm, as we happen to
enjoy the idea of continued life. You might sneer and state it is just
our fear of change. When this 'change' has a stated chance of
destroying our realm, then it is understandable that we 'fear' this
occurence. It's a natural reaction of self-preservation.
It is quite likely that you will scoff at the evidence presented and the
facts gleaned from the histories and words of the Logos. You will
think a variety of things: "They are just overreacting. I haven't
noticed any adverse affects. They just hate anything they don't
understand." Contrary to popular belief, we don't just sit about,
thinking up things we should oppose because we are bored. We do
not find spending our time to clean up the messes of others to be
particularly thrilling, so much so that we will go about just making
ideologies up. More than most, I believe the Church wishes the
danger were not real. However, we have researched the history of
Chaos and come to the conclusion it does pose a serious danger, and
thus we cannot ignore it.
So, while you are out there convincing yourself it is not dangerous
and you have it all under control, spreading Chaos left and right, the
Church will always stand against you. We will be here, fighting to
ensure that your idiocy does not doom us all. You are as dangerous
as any child playing with fire, and will be treated as such until you
begin to take responsibility for your actions.
I now await the mass outcry of "Fascist, uneducated, prejudiced,
hypocritical lout" from all those who find fault with the preceeding
text. I would be stunned at no posts, amazed at less than five, and
expectant of ten. I apologize now to any others reading this for the
increased clutter to the newsboard.
