Shrine Wars years ago.

Fact Two: I have recently been enemied to your order for no reason,
though you have supplied one -- for defiling -- which is downright far
from the truth.

If this is your way of starting up some war, so be it.

If this is your way of gaining more power and gold to your order, so be
it, but I will never pay any fine for something I have never done.

If this is your way of encouraging more shrine defiling, so be it. You
will not be disappointed.
