Venom Treaty

Written by: Mistral of the Shimmering Blue
Date: Tuesday, April 16th, 2002
Addressed to: Lady Czanthria Zuiho_sho, The Rune Warden

I was one of the parties to the treaty when it was signed 36 years ago,
in the capacity as the Overseer of Ashtan. As well, being the
Guildmistress of the Shadowsnakes currently, I feel obliged to speak
with you on this matter.

How the treaty came about -- what Xandor said, what Xandor promised,
what Xandor hinted at -- does not matter anymore. The way the venom
pricing has been upheld according to the treaty all these years still
amazes me. The pricing may seem steep, but if I myself can still sell
well in my own shop at the minimum price of 2000 gp per vial, then it
must mean something.

As a leader in the profession of runes and totems, I am sure you
understand fully our need to protect our own interests in regard to
venoms. Just as well, the enchanters have done the same.

It will be a regret if a thievery in your city will inhibit any possible
negotiation on the venom pricing. If no further talk is desired, see the
thievery as the beginning of many things to come. Still, I sincerely
hope we may come up with something new, using diplomatic means.

Mistral

Penned by my hand on the 16th of Phaestian, in the year 303 AF.
