Calhoun,
Perhaps to the citizens of Cyrene and Shallam you present a different
aspect of your character. But over all the time I have observed you, I
have found you to be nothing more than an inflated thug. It is people
like you who cost us freedom in these realms by your irrational actions.
Today, as many times before, you attacked and killed me without reason
as I made my way to Yggdrasil to immolate the body of a fallen comrade.
Along with me I took the body of his slain opponent, as well, for unlike
you I do not believe in unnecessary loss of hard earned experience to
the malicious tendencies of others.
I do not know what thoughts crossed your mind when you did this, but I
am certain it had little to do with anything but bloodlust. Except this
time you did not get away completely unscathed. Using my knowledge I
called on the help of Lord Taug to aid me in my revenge. As I knew you
to be too much of a coward to step outside Shallam's walls after
committing yet another atrocity, it was to Shallam that I went. And it
was in Shallam that my ally exacted a small measure of your punishment.
I will pay the price of my actions soon enough, as I believe in seeking
justice I broke the law of a city. But this is what I will say. You, so
proud of your skill to kill, so confident that your thuggery will
forever be unpunished, will learn otherwise. I am not the first nor am I
the last to stand against your mindless cruelty, your petty malice. I am
an average fighter at best. But I will find ways to make sure that
justice is done for every life you take without reason.
I am not of the church. I do not advocate mercy or forgiveness. I have
none for those such as yourself. I ask none for myself when I knowingly
make an action that has consequences. It is time you grew up, Calhoun.
It is time you started to see that everything you do will have results.
Today it might be the minor invonvenience of the chase Taug gave you
around Shallam. What is to come tomorrow only Gods know.
I am not a paladin. I do not fight for the Light or for Righteousness.
But I fight for the right of every individual in Sapience to be relieved
of the mindless murderous rage of those such as yourself. You may kill
me a hundred times, Calhoun, for that is the only answer you know to
anything - murder.
I am an Occultist and an Ashtanite. Selfish at times, certainly. Wielder
of dark arts, most assuredly. Afraid to stand up for what I believe in?
Never.

You see, Calhoun, there is one thing about rational people. In combat no
one will generally mind a thug on their side. But no thug is ever truly
respected once their nature is shown for all to see.

There are consequences for every action. I have long learned to take
mine. When will you do the same?
