The Order of Tyros II

Greetings Achaeans,

I would first like to thank those who attended and attempted
to attend the meetings organized for Noviceheads to discuss
the idea of a clan,The Order of Tyros, to help us all
improve our Novice and Probate programs. Let me also
apologize for it taking this long to post this note about
the meetings, other responsibilities took precedence.

Noviceheads who attended were:
Taisha Drac'kal of the Sentinels
Tizzee Darrion of the Shadowsnakes
Azor Celeste of the Magi
Khalyn Mercadia of the Dawnstriders
Starrsong Weltsdown of the Priests
Valeo Sa'Rithven of the Mojushai
Syr Yosi r' Caersalem of the Infernals
Grellek of the Shamans

Others that attended were:
Linus of the Magi
Septerra Augustus of the Magi

For the purpose of this post Novices are all those that have
been inducted into a Guild but have yet to enter the Guild
as a member. Probates are those that have been promoted out
of Novicehood but have yet to meet the Guild's requirements
for full membership.

The talks in both cases were focused on reasons for having a
clan and explanations as to who would be allowed in the clan
and what purpose it is to serve. Some discussion of how
each clan trains their Probate and Novices was also
discussed. Most of those in attendance agreed that by
sharing information on the methodology used to train our
Novices and Probates we will be able to provide a richer
experience for the realms. There were some present found it
hard to understand how this clan would not become another
forum for bitter differences to be expressed. Some didn't
quite understand why this clan is needed when the NEWBIE
channel exists. On the other hand to those Guilds with more
complex training programs the opportunities offered by such
a clan seemed quite clear.

Let me redescribe, after further understanding of the
concerns from all parties, what is being suggested.

The point of The Order of Tyros is as a forum for those
involved in training Novices and Probates. It is NOT a
forum for the Novices and Probates. It is a place to
exchange ideas on different types of methods for training.
There is much information that can be shared without the
need to get into the specifics of the classes. The fact
that Knights guilds teach Honor and that our class involves
reading a text and then passing a test doesn't reveal much.
The details of how we teach the class and test the Probates
can still be discussed. There is no reason that alignment
and city matters should come up as we are all discussing
technical and not moral/value issues. It has been mentioned
that it would be possible to enlist lecturers from other
Guilds. I am not sure that it makes sense but this can be
discussed. Perhaps for cross Guild activities like
Landmarking classes this might make sense. Everything is up
for discussion as long as it pertains to training.

As to who would be members, this is pretty simple. All
Noviceheads of participating Guilds as a base. There would
be a special grouping of those former Noviceheads that wish
to participate as well as Aides and Guildmasters. The
Novicehead of each Guild will be the ones that determine who
will be a member from that Guild. A used clan should be
found in order to make the cost to each Guild as little as
possible. If anyone knows of someone selling such a clan
please contact me. The money from Guilds that join after
the clan is up and running will be divided amongst the
guilds that already paid their part of the clan. This way
it will be an equal division of cost.

I urge all Noviceheads that are interested in joining
efforts to establish The Order of Tyros to please contact me
ASAP so we can begin to make final preparations.
