Dresden

I'm writing this in case you trust Dresden, or think she makes the best
Priestess in the world because of her moral character. She forced me
into a combat spar, using her devotion, about 11 Achaean months ago.
This is the story. Dresden and I were fighting off and on around the
clouds for a good amount of time. Neither of us killed the other, so I
finally decided to ask Dresden to spar me in the arena regularly (no
ranked combat spar). Surprisingly, she accepted, and we both went to
meet at the Delos arena. When I arrived there, I challenged her to a
regular spar. In return, she challenged me to a ranked combat spar. When
she did this, I told her that I didn't want to make this fight count
because I had low willpower, and I wasn't willing to risk scarring a
good record just because of it, but that I was here to spar her
regularly. At this point, she used her devotion to force me to "accept",
and we promptly entered the arena. Immediately, I asked her if Calhoun
didn't set a good example for her when he was kicked out of the combat
rankings for forcing someone to spar him. She was not aware of what
Calhoun had done, so at this point she became disgruntled and started
asking me if I would not issue her if she "let me" kill her in the
combat spar. The rest of the ranked combat spar, she sat there begging
me to not get her in trouble, so we ended up timing out and nobody had
their win/loss or rating changed in any manner. Did anything bad come of
her actions? No, but was she wrong in forcing me to accept her ranked
combat spar in the first place, and should she be punished for it? Yes.
Does this action encompass someone who is trustworthy and has a good
moral character? No, of course not, it's completely childish behavior
that even Calhoun has partaken in. To prove that the Priests' Guild
isn't making their Priests/Priestesses live up to a high standard like
they used to and like they should, (God knows if anybody from the Ashura
did that, they would be outguilded immediately) Alpine told me directly
that no disciplinary action would be taken against Dresden because
"nothing bad came of her actions." From my point of view, any leadership
or legal system that refuses to punish someone for something they
obviously did wrong, because nothing bad came of their actions, is a
horribly skewed position. Any legal system or leader that uses this as
their excuse not to take action against someone is causing an injustice
and is totally ignoring the precipitating factors in the event. It's a
flawed way to make decisions. Imagine if I walked into your house and
started shooting arrows at the head of your spouse. Let's say I'm a bad
shot because I'm a monk, and I miss all 10 shots and run away. Would it
be fair for a leader to say "No, Tranquility isn't being punished
because nothing came of his actions." NO! Of COURSE that wouldn't be
fair. Yes, it's all well and good that the spouse wasn't killed, but the
fact is, I tried to KILL that spouse. My intentions and actions were
there, whether or not anything came of it or not doesn't matter, unless
of course the spouse WAS killed, in which case I would be facing even
harsher consequences. My point is this. You don't punish someone SOLELY
based on if anything "came" of their actions, you punish someone using a
combination of the two. What were their actions, and what happened
because of their actions? If their actions were obviously wrong and
intentional, but nothing came of their actions, they should STILL be
punished. Anybody with any experience at all as a leader knows that you
use a combination of the two, and not just one. Alpine, I'm disappointed
that you don't hold your members to a higher standard. This wouldn't be
accepted of an Ashuran monk, and I'm sure it wouldn't be accepted in
many other Guilds. Your complete lack of fairness and your biased views
shine through in your decision. Other Priests/Priestesses in your Guild
have shared that same viewpoint with me personally. Another viewpoint
that we share is that we hope the next leader of the Priests is going to
be someone who sets higher standards to make sure that their members are
good moral people who actually know what the Holy Codex is, and won't
turn a blind eye when one of their members starts giving their Guild a
bad reputation. Alpine makes poor decisions, and Dresden is caniving,
untrustworthy, and makes a worst Priest than Calhoun makes a monk. If I
ever hear someone say that Dresden is trustworthy and/or moral, I'll be
glad to reference them to this post. Good day.
