To the Druid persuasion more acurately, in regards to the balance of nature

Best greetings to those who enjoy harvesting,
A rather interesting issue came up in a conversation that I had the
opportunity to partake in earlier this month. The question was brought
up as to why those who were participating in the Crossing with the
landmarks, why was it that noone had seen any of the tree types helping
to guarantee the form of Thoth's Bough? It was a rather strongly
supported idea of a balance of nature, that even Gaia Herself was heard
to mention, when the item in question was to be in the form of the Gaian
Tree during the last Crossing.
It would seem to me, that the wishes of One who seeks to maintain this
ever-important balance, would be as strictly adhered to by all those who
claimed to be guaranteeing the aforementioned balance such a short time
ago. Does this balance only come into play when the mood suits you? Or
perhaps only when you can have an excuse to aid Shallam with the front
of 'fairness', ie the balance of nature.
I would appreciate any feedback on this issue, as I don't exactly
understand the complete reversal of importance for balance that has been
so blatantly exhibited.
