Accountability

Consider this an open letter to those who opened the second box and to
those who defend their actions.
No one will argue that the emotions of everyone in Shallam were running
high the day in question. No one will argue that Shakti is responsible
for a great deal of destruction to the city of Shallam. These things are
not in question.
However, Shakti...though acting irresponsibly, broke no laws of Hashan.
And to my has not exactly been quiet in proclaiming what was done.
Shakti saw the warnings and opened the box. I would expect nothing less
from someone from Ashtan.
Those from Shallam on the other hand seem to be pointing the finger at
everyone but themselves. Declaring to the world their innocence while
their own words condemn their actions. By your own words the key was
secreted away to Shallam, hidden by a group their. You went to find the
second box seeking vengence. Finding the box you saw the warning and
realized it wasn't a good idea. You then began telling people this.
Charlotte pops in, either ignoring the warnings or the warnings were not
broadcasted in such a way that she did not hear them, and without even
looking at the box opens it.
Whether or not your intentions were good and just in your mind changes
nothing. Your actions caused the deaths of many. You broke laws in our
city. As such their are penalties. Your actions caused this just as
Shakti's actions caused the Bascillica to be blasted.
And while you sit on your church doctrine remember that even Sarapis has
stated that Shakti and Charlotte have much to answer for their actions.
Shakti's actions are Shallam's concern as the laws broken were that of
Shallam. What you do or do not about that matter is entirely a Shallam
internal concern.
And while on the subject of the divine, I'd like to point out that
Hashan was without Twilight at the time of the trouble, but Shallam had
its powerful patron in its midst. I wonder if any of you thought for one
moment to call out to Pent to see what His thoughts on the matter was.
Or if you all just assumed what was best and acted.
You are correct in that you don't have to do anything about the matter.
You don't have to pay fines. You don't have to recognize the legitimacy
of any crimes passed upon you. Afterall, this is not your home. It is
our home.
But understand that by not accepting even a small bit of the blame
beyond what Charlotte has courageously done you have put a strain on
relations. A basic law of the universe is that for every action, there
is a reaction. If you are content with that, so be it.
