An occultist ring

Long time ago I've found in a shop a ring, yes a simply ring, with no
other attributes on it. For curiosity I bought it, and from it started
my idea of making a jewerly collection, that I though I've complete,
till today.
After searching all the most weird objects in all the realm, I asked a
friend of mine to engrave it, and I relaxed thinking it was at the end.
Then today, after walking in Ashtan, I met Shakti and Morlana and again,
for pure curiosity, I got off the nameless ring from my pack and showed
it to them, asking them if maybe they would have know it.
Well, can you imagine? it was a ring of exclusive property of the
occultist guild and I was asked (...) to give it back. I use (...)
because I would not even imagine what would happen to me, in the middle
of the market of Ashtan, among two senior occultists, to refuse. Sorry
but I don't think a ring it's an enough reason to die *heh* not yet at
least
Of course, gold was offered to me to repay the loss of the item (I
prefere not to think it was stolen) but then I ask myself:
what fault have I if someone sell your guild objects? It is pretty
obvious I show it to Shakti and Morlana because I DIDN'T know it
belonged to the occ guild (I can be stupid but not so much....), and I
agree that every guild has a guild teacher that sell guild items and
those items should be protected from theft by guild members, but then I
ask myself, my complete collection was ruined just because someone
brought that damn ring out of the occ guild (ok and add because I was
not so smart to show it to other people...) and what I got? Pretty a
pack on the back?
Actually my collection is feeding an humgii belly, it was not for the
collection in itself, it's not to reach the peak but to climb the
mountain, and I can always start a new hobby. I suppose sooner or later
the occultuist guild will thank me in any way for returning this famous
ring to their hands, and as I said I don't care anymore about jewelry...
but my question remains, why I have to pay for someone else's mistake?
Pay more attention to people who buy from your guild teacher OR if I was
really able to get an item it was supposed to be secret, just give me
the satisfaction to keep it for I earned it 😉
Don't you think?
Have a nice day
