If I remember correctly, back before the landmarks were discovered and
activated the Church of Shallam built shrines all over the place. At one
point it was possible to defile these weapons of war made by them while
graced.

"This isn't fair!" Cried the churchies. "We have no chance or ability to
defend against this."
"Why should they be able to destroy our creations, which are to the
greater glory of the gods, from behind the grace of the gods?"

And on and on their arguments went, until it was no longer possible to
defile shrines while graced.

Now the Church does not have a monopoly on shrines. Of course, they
shamelessly use grace to defile and destroy the shrines they do not like
and their spindoctors and propoganda machines spew forth insults to our
intelligence as to why this should be OK, deflect or outright ignore
such questions while giving the illusion of a reply.

And Caled- you say that the Sentinels, the Devout and the Church are all
separate organizations and shouldn't be lumped together- but they are
together, whenever it comes to fighting against Ashtan. You only have
your divisions because you can't get along with each other, yet retain
common enemies. You are all just "Churchies" to us.
