Your Evil Deeds

Clearly it is the Church's most sacred duty to stamp out evil. And that
is why Irontounge must kill his daughter...or is it? What Irontounge has
shown is not a desire to stamp out evil, but actually a raw desire to
kill in blood lust and a show of pure evil that probably pleases the
Great and Mighty Sartan.

The god Deucalion once stated in the Codex (that always seemed to be
relatively ignored by its followers) that "there may come a time when
you will have to have to use force against those who will, sadly, not
respond to any other action", but "if you are bringing riteous
retribution to an individual for their actions (let us say, defiling a
shrine, or killing a fellow member of the Church), enact such justice
only once for each act of wickedness."

This clearly states that force is an option to be used in extreme cases
of transgression against the Church. It sounds as if Sun's only
transgression is being lead (or mislead if you're from the Churchy
perspective) by a fiancee. Explain how this is on the order of "killing
a fellow member of the Church" as Deucalion orders you?

The act against Sun was done with the reasoning of "I'm stamping out
evil". But one must ask himself if one's action will in fact result in
the desired resultant for any choice, be it this or any other situation.
Clearly this act gives one the impression that the Church is a merciless
body bent on oppression before forgiveness: the choice was made to kill
as the first option instead of first seeking extensive peaceful ways as
would probably please Oneiros. Only a fool would go to the Church after
being such a victim. Therefore, it is concluded that the choice
Irontounge made would not result in the desired outcome, but would
rather push his victim closer to evil. Therefore, you did Sartan a
favour.

But one would say that the Codex says to kill as a last resort, when
other ways of eliminating evil fail. I would say this does not apply
here for two reasons. The first is that, as I have shown above, the
action has the exact opposite effect that Deucalion calls you to do.
Violence is the last resort to stamp out evil, yes, but only if it is
does stamp out evil. Violence is not an option for a Churchy when it
drives people towards evil as this case surely does. Thus there is no
case there.

In addition, even if violence would by some odd reason make your victim
like you and your silly Church more and thus actually not be unjustified
by Codex standards, then I ask you: did you spend any large amount of
peaceful time discussing the issue with your daughter? Did you meet with
her and a group such as the fiancee that led her to that path and maybe
leaders of the Church to help her? Did you pray your god to speak her
personally? Did you try your best to make violence the absolute last
option? I know how you are from past experience, and based on that and
your words here the answer to this is most definitely "no". This again
shows that you do not have a desire to stamp out evil, but a desire to
kill.

And so now I would like to direct your attention to rule one of the
Codex in regards to when you kill as Deucalion has mandated of you: "For
though the Church must sometimes bring the use of deadly force against
their foes, there should be no blood lust in such killing." (And also
note use of the word "sometimes", another aspect if the codex that you
ignored.)

Now let's look at what you have done to further the cause if evil
explicitly. Sartan's truth #2 says encourages you to use cruelty (the
application of pain) to further your cause unlike the Codex that says
make it your last option; you have chosen Sartan's method over the
Codex's. You are very intolerant of your daughter, and thus by truth #4
you please Sartan. And clearly one who without hesitation kills his
daughter and says he would do the same to his own mother has no
conscious, and you do this by inflicting pain on others a la truth #6.
And it also appears that you have a drive for advancement of your cause
by means of pain, and so you fulfill truth #1 that states such actions
as the very thing called "evil".

So clearly your evil heritage that you left behind so many years ago
still resides within you. And once again the leaders of the Church try
to turn a blind eye to its irresponsible members. Those of the Church
should be dismayed by all of this, but I for one am not. I enjoy seeing
the Church do the work of evil as I had shown so many times in my more
youthful days.
