Sapience,

It has come to my attention that a number of you do not feel that the issues I previously examined were enough to merit any change whatsoever in the current system of excommunication. Therefore, I have decided to continue my post with a further explanation of the conclusions that I have reached. The following is a number of opinions based upon my experience in the fluctuation of power and affects of various systems of skill regulation throughout the realm.

The first point I feel needs to be examined is the skill of Deliverance. This ability allows anyone with an alignment of above Saintlike to be instantly delivered to the location of the person using the Deliverance skill. Having experienced both sides of the problem that arises when this skill is used for evil purposes, I can understand both arguments as to its application. I see a parallel in this ability with the Crystalhome ability which a person of the Mage class loses upon leaving the guild. For those of you unfamiliar with that skill, Crystalhome allows the Mage to transport himself back to his own guild's Master Crystal, which is located within the Guildhall of that guild. If a Magi were to leave the guild and join the forces of Ashtan, but retained the ability of Crystalhome, they would be able to rape the Master Crystal of the Magi right from under their eyes. The same is true for the use of the Deliverance ability.

A Priest or Paladin with the Deliverance ability can, before the affects of Excommunication take place, leave his or her guild to join the forces of Ashtan or Hashan, and, using their Deliverance ability, Deliver all of his or her former allies directly into the awaiting blades, fists, claws and teeth of his new allies. Chaos ensues. Thus, I would like to suggest a change in the Excommunication effects. This change would render all abilities based on alignment within the Excommunicated player's skillset completely useless. Perhaps the ability of Hands could be excluded, for it is hardly an offensive skill. I believe that this would solve the major problem that many Priests and Paladins have with those who have opened their eyes to the Truth and taken a path in life that would warrant Excommunication.

A person I felt deserved recognition is the Rogue Priest known as Radagast. Radagast was involved in a rather lengthy skirmish between himself and a number of Druids. Radagast's actions, while they in no way hindered the Church, apparently warrented his Excommunication. I feel that this was not a valid reason to Excommunicate Radagast, as the Druids whom he was engaged in combat with no doubt had the ability and the means to defend themselves, without the negation of one of Radagast's skillsets. I believe that Isildur overstepped his authority in doing so, but perhaps his is just another example of the Church proving it does not need to be so nice.

Once again, I beg of you Sapience. Look towards the past, if you desire to change the Future. We as a continent prospered most under times of great understanding. That is not to say there was no conflict, for conflict is what drives us all, and it is a necessary part of our lives. But looking back at the most succesful Empire in the history of our world, glorious Selucar, I can only notice the general acceptance of all types of people. Perhaps, perhaps, if truly the Church desired the well being of all, it could take a lesson from Nicator, and begin to mold itself not into a corrupt entity of blind souls, but of a glorious organization which would bring Sapience into a new realm of Enlightenment and understanding. Perhaps...this is not what the Church most desires...but Sapience, this is what I desire. And if I am going to have the abilities I have spent my entire life honing to perfection suddenly stripped away from me, by the Gods, I shall make it worth my troubles.
