My dear fellow,
You seem to suggest that excommunication is used as a means to
keep people within the church and nothing more. In fact only a
handful of people who left the church have ever been
excommunicated, but lets examine the reason for excommunication.
Devotion is taught to all church members, it is a skill of the
faith of and in the church, it is acquired through the upkeep
of landmarks in their holy state, or perhaps through a holy
rite of prayer, in short it is a skill based upon the belief
and goodness of an individual.
If someone turns against on that belief, and foresakes that
goodness, how can they expect to use its power?
I have NEVER excommunicated someone for simply leaving the
church, it is an act only revokable by the Logos himself and
a responsibility I take most seriously.
