I have recently read and heard many complaints about death. Many
are constantly telling others to read the HELP PLAYERKILLING scroll,
speaking of how their deaths are against the laws and nature of
the world Achaea in which we live.
This scroll speaks out against killing someone so often that they
seek to leave the realms forever. I understand this as does nearly
everyone in Achaea. It is bad to force persons to leave this world,
for eventually the world would become barren and all would leave
the wonder in which we live. However this leaves an ambigious
question before us...how many deaths are too much? How soon is
too often?
I will express my views on this matter, and afterwords I would
like to open the forum for discussion. First off, let us look at
the multitude of reasons for being killed, which I will attempt
to seperate into broad catagories.
1. Either you, or someone from your guild/order/city/clan insulted,
killed, or annoyed your killer. I feel that this is only a strong
reason if you yourself are the culprit, but I can understand
someone taking out their aggressions upon all connected with their
antagonizer.
2. There is a long standing feud between your guild/order/city/clan
and their guild/order/city/clan. This is completely acceptable in
my opinion, paladins and infernals need no other reason to slay
eachother. Those who hate the church need no other reason, because
in their killing they are working torwards a goal.
3. You have slain their friend/ordermate/guildmate/citemate/etc...
and they are seeking to extract vengance in their friend/order...'s
place. This I also feel acceptable.
4. They have been hired to kill you by one of your enemies. As an
assassin this is my trade and thus I do support it fully.
5. Sometimes there is a feud between a single person and a guild or
order/city...etc... and that person seeks to destroy that guild alone,
this is akin to suicide, but I do support it.
6. Because they are feeling routy and just want to kill someone...
now this is an excuse I don't support, but I wouldn't complain when
it happens because there are only a blessed few individuals who do
this sort of thing.
7. Because they want to gain experiance through their battle with
you and your subsequent death. This I find to be wholey wrong and
unacceptable, and I feel swift and immediate justice should be
delt to these individuals.
8. And finally, the final reason I could think of for being slain
is because you are working against their intrests in some way, a
good example of this would be death's heart.
9. I forgot to mention outright war, but I figure that's fairly
obvious.
Now other than reason #7 I find all of these reasons for killing
to be acceptable. But I find them to be acceptable for only one
maybe two deaths a day, hunting down and killing someone three
or four times in a single Achaean day or even month I feel would
make that person frustrated to a point that over a long time they
would be more likely to leave Achaea.
But to all those who are upset, or wish to whine about their
Deaths being unfair, or too often I give you this little tidbit
of information. You may not know this but after you die, if you
don't REJECT GRACE, you can't be killed. If you're dying way too
often say graced and wait for things to cool off. Do a couple
quests, write a book, there are things to do in Achaea that don't
require to you be able to perform agressive actions.
I'd like to hear your comments.
