The Light

Israfel and Gijan threaten to convert by the sword. Kay and Caerid attempt it with no rhyme or reason. People like Zaklin and Raajin, two men I greatly respect, actually appeal to the individual, and speak with them.

One of these methods is effective. The last one. Raajin long ago convinced me of the hypocrisy of the Church. He was absolutely right. Very few of the Church's 'enforcement arm' have any honour. I proved it time again while I was there. I proved it overmore by leaving them. Raajin spoke to me of honour, comradery, and making a difference in the world. He was correct on all three points. But he missed something important. The fact that the difference we make, is the wrong one.

I've been an Infernal for ten years now. I've slaughtered many, many people. I've gorged Twilight and Sartan with my offerings. I've risen through the ranks, both title and guild. I've caused an immense amount of trouble. And all for naught, because I cannot stomach what I've done when I go to sleep at night. My mind became so plagued with these thoughts that I hallucinated a voice and persona for my conscience, and ended up attacking friends because of it. I warn you all, the river of Darkness.. the river of Evil.. and all the tributaries flowing into them.. deceit, greed, bloodlust.. they all flow into an ocean with no stars. If you reach that ocean, you are lost. Far too many are already lost. Turn back while you can.
